what the hell?

I have no idea how you expect me to play this game. I realise there are "jump in, balance" popups but they don't tell me any more than which key to press. Do I hold it? Do I tap it? When? I can't believe you made such a stupidly basic mistake to what should have been a great game.

Hmm

It's a nice looking game and a great concept, but sadly it just doesn't play very well. The controls are incredibly unresponsive (particularly jump) and it just doesn't feel fluid. Also, I don't think I should trip over when I take a running jump and happen to land right next to a little obstacle, despite letting go of the "run" button in the air. It's frustrating. If you could tone down the difficulty and make the game more playable this would have been so fantastic.

Fantastic game

Totally addictive. It's easy to tell you love making games, this has got so much passion flowing from it. This is one of the best Flash games I've ever played.

Unfortunately my game froze after using the giant computer, so when I refreshed the browser I was sad to notice that nothing i had done was saved, despite the end of each nightmare telling me that my game was saved. I don't think I want to go through all that again, so that's a shame.

Nevertheless, the graphics were fun, the gameplay and idea was appealing, and it was well made. Thank you!

Terrible.

The reaction of the character is different each time - sometimes he will jump as soon as I release space, other times he won't jump for a second or two after I release space, meaning he's doomed. The graphics are terrible and you've put the most annoying music in the world in the most annoying game. The reason the preloader doesn't load for a while is because you stupidly put the annoying music on the first frame of your Flash, meaning it loads before the preloader.

the reason i did that is because if someone goes to the menu again, it starts without stopping the music.

Fantastic

As usual, the Forever series doesn't fail to disappoint. I had fun with this, but it was a tiny bit awkward with my laptop's trackpad :)

Very stylish, very well put together.

acrazycanadian responds:

Good to hear you can have fun even with a trackpad. I'll confess, I really did design it for just the mouse, but I've had a bunch of people tell me it's alright with a pad so that's a relief!

Not bad

You've put a lot of time in to this and it's well Actionscripted. I was a little put off when the menu screen came up and I couldn't just click "start" and had to navigate my way there instead. Not a huge effort I know, but a minor confusion that could easily have been avoided.

The game was well-made, but sadly it didn't bring anything new to the genre. It was very basic and didn't really consist of anything that made it stand out from the crowd.

A nice attempt though, I hope anything I've said is useful feedback for future projects.

OctoFlash responds:

yeah it is, thanks! tough i don't know how much you played it because there are many different levels and the more you play, the more traps and stuff show up.
maybe you're right about individuality but i think it's just in the first few levels..

I had fun!

It was an entertaining game. What it lacked was longevity. More upgrades and a higher difficulty would improve it greatly, as well as more variation on the obstacles and things to do in-game. Even a nicer-looking upgrade screen would be nice!

However, putting those things aside, you did a great job of actionscripting the game together, and I admire your efforts. The implementation of 3D was a nice touch too. For these reasons, you get a 5/5 and a positive review :)

A fun game!

The graphics are great, the audio is pretty good, and it's a nice little timewaster. My only complaint is that there's a problem with flying diagonally and shooting at the same time - Flash seems to lock up when there's more than two buttons being pressed. Maybe do a little Actionscript research to see if there's a way around that. It's evident you've put a lot of effort in to this game though, so there's no faulting you there. Well done :)

Shame.

I'm disappointed, this could have been a really amazing game but it was let down by glitches and a bad mission structure. It wasn't always clear what mission I was doing at the time. And that hidden sniper in the window of the Blow Smoke mission was ridiculous. We're supposed to try shooting all the windows until we find him? That's quite annoying. It would be nice to be able to leave a mission without having to exit to the main menu.

Still, I was impressed with the game until it froze after I clicked on the computer that showed they were going to leave me a message.

Very nice

I found this game extremely therapeutic. It was a simple challenge that required a lot of forethought, and the second music track just made it so calming for me. Very well done.

I'm glad you liked the music, thanks! :D
